Thank You for Celebrating Earth Week
| |
Thank you to the students, community members, Alumni, and friends who braved the rain and joined the Alumni & Friends' fifth annual Foraging Tour on April 21st as part of Chabot's Earth Week activities.
We had a blast exploring campus, appreciating the variety of plants/trees in our own Chabot backyard, and learning about foraging's deep roots in the African American and Native American communities from our expert guide, Blessing Morris. We look forward to hosting more tours in the future. |

Middle School Puente Students Visit Chabot
| |
On March 10, 55 Puente students from Cesar Chavez Middle School in Hayward, accompanied by six chaperones, visited Chabot College for a day of exploration and inspiration.
A student-led campus tour and a “deconstructed” panel during lunch connected middle schoolers with Chabot students from Puente Club, Women in STEM, and Women in Engineering, who shared insights on college life, choosing majors, and preparing in high school. The visit had a powerful impact, with many students newly motivated to pursue college, including those previously uninterested. As Puente celebrates its 45th anniversary at Chabot, the program continues to expand its mission of increasing college access and cultivating future community leaders, exemplified by a former Chabot Puente student now teaching at Cesar Chavez Middle School.

Student Education Plan (SEP) Day Sets New Record |
Spring 2026 SEP Day, held on March 25th, marked the highest participation yet, with Counseling and Special Programs supporting 225 students in completing their Student Education Plans (SEPs), continuing a steady rise from 171 students in Spring 2025 and 211 in Fall 2025.
This growth reflects the college’s commitment to student success, as SEPs and counselor connections are key drivers of persistence, timely completion of transfer-level coursework, and achievement of certificates, degrees, and transfer goals. |
